Welcome to Newport Fairness Commission's website
Fairness matters to us all. It matters especially when it comes to how decisions are made about where we live and work – how priorities are set, and how public money gets spent. Everyone has their own good reasons to want a fairer community.

At the Newport Fairness Commission, our job is to make sure fairness is at the top of the agenda in our city. Fairness Commissions have been established in communities across the UK – from Shetland to Southampton. Others have been set up for a few months, or a year. Newport’s has existed since 2012.

The Fairness Commission has championed participatory budgeting work, involving local people in decision making since 2020

fairness and explains some of our work
Fairness Commission members are volunteers from all walks of life. We work with Newport City Council. We give feedback on their decisions, and advice on how to make those decisions more fair.

And we’ll be very glad to hear from you. Wherever you are in Newport, and whether you’re an individual or a group.

Please get in contact with us if you would like to hear more about our work, to invite us to come and talk to you, to learn more about our training packages, or if you have any suggestions about how we can make Newport a fairer place.

Let’s take fairness seriously, together.
